Our Mission

To promote and encourage the appreciation, development, and education of art in all its diverse forms.

If you or someone you know has a talent which would contribute to the continuation of our organization, we welcome you to join us in the pursuit of a large and active art community.

The Frankenmuth Arts Council believes that art expression is exhibited in this truly unique and special place we call Frankenmuth. Through art, community, and connection, we invite you to become inspired to join us as we REENERGIZE in 2022.

Membership provides annual support for exhibitions as we continue to work with the Frankenmuth Farmer’s Market; support in forming Frankenmuth’s very own “art district”, and helps guarantee that we can be a vibrant part of our community.

September 23-24, 2022

Frankenmuth Fire Arts Festival

Learn or refine many artistic techniques used with fire at this multi-day event. Enjoy multiple workshops, vendors, entertainment, food, drinks and more. To close out the event, watch the magnificent sight of red hot iron being poured into molds made through the festival workshops.

Market After Dark

For 7 nights in the 2022 season, each Market will feature a major-scale arts performance, music, food, drinks and of course – small-business artisan and craft vendors! Join the Frankenmuth Farmers Market and the Frankenmuth Area Arts Council as we continue to build this market for the promotion of a stronger arts and entertainment community!

Plein Air Competition

The 2022 competition is open to all artists 18+. Submissions are displayed at the Fire Arts Festival where first place will be awarded $1500.

Each year we are blessed to have excited & talented volunteers as a part of our organization. Here are the people who make this happen.

Charles Allport

President

Employee at Frankenmuth Credit Union. Charles received his M.A. in International Security from the University of Arizona. Treasurer of Frankenmuth Arts Council, 2017-2018, as well as member of the Frankenmuth Jaycees and current Secretary. Frankenmuth United Methodist Church Member and drummer in Praise Team. Board Treasurer for Wilshire Green Condominium Association.

Marcy Putnam

Vice President

Retired. Master’s Degree in Secondary Education with a Fine Arts focus, and a Bachelor’s Degree with a double major in Art and Vocal Music from Central Michigan University. Member of Frankenmuth United Methodist Church where she has directed both children and adult choirs, also member of Praise Team. Michigan School Vocal Association Member, Lion’s Club Member. Marcy has been a member of the Frankenmuth Arts Council since 2017.

Mary Anne Schrems

Secretary

Retired administrative and accounting assistant. Early career was working as an artist at Bronner Screen Printing with design and layout experience. Member of and has held positions at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, as well as the Board Secretary of CrossRoads Counseling Ministries. Mary Anne is an artist in her own realm of porcelain painting, fused glass and mosaicking. Show Chairman for the MI Porcelain Artists, 2014-2015. Secretary of the Council, 2007-2011. President of the Arts Council, 2012 – 2015.

Jeremy Love

Treasurer

4th Grade Teacher at Elms Road Elementary in Swartz Creek. Jeremy received his MA in Educational Technology from Central Michigan University and a BS in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan-Flint. Jeremy is also the Elementary and Middle School Drama Director for Swartz Creek Community Schools. Jeremy has performed on stage with several local theatre groups and is a percussionist. While Jeremy appreciates all forms of art, he has a particular fondness for the performing arts, music, and film. Joined the FAC in 2021 as a Board Member.

Stephen Hargash

Executive Director

Self-employed, full-time artist. Bachelor of Fine Arts, 1997- Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Executive Director of the Frankenmuth Arts Council. Experienced in the area of hosting art shows and hanging of the art. Stephen is the artist for many of the murals located throughout Frankenmuth, such as the those located at Rau’s Country Store, Wickson District Library, Frankenmuth Credit Union, and St. Lorenz Lutheran School, to name a few.

Christy Kuczynski

Board Member

Christy is the Executive Director of the Frankenmuth Farmers Market and 25-year veteran employee of Frankenmuth Insurance Company. She is an active community volunteer having served with the Frankenmuth Junior Chamber and the Frankenmuth Civic Events Council over recent years. As Co-Chairperson of the Frankenmuth Jaycee Spray Park build, Christy worked with the project committee as a grant writer to raise the 1-million dollars in funds needed to bring the park into reality. As an artist, Christy enjoys painting and multi-media work.
